Talk as a board before you answer the resident

In the app this is called Board Discussion — a private thread on an open request. Residents do not see it.

Included on Good Neighbor ($0) and Board Automation for home improvements, maintenance, and violations. The vendor bid portal and Board Discussion on vendor bids are Board Automation only.

No. 01— Where Board Discussion lives

Board Discussion is not a community feed and not a separate forums page. It sits on each request in Community Operations.

Step 1

You open the case file where the board already works.

Open Community Operations → Home improvements, Maintenance, or Violations → open a request.

  1. On Board Automation, the same private thread is on vendor bids too.

This is not Messages, not the Community Feed, and not Announcements.

Step 2

You switch to the thread only the board can read.

On the request detail page, in the discussion card.

  1. Tap the Board tab (next to With submitter on home improvements).
  2. Under Board Discussion, the line reads: Private — visible only to the board.

Residents never see this tab. Private board notes do not notify the resident.

Step 3

Directors align before the public reply goes out.

Board Discussion composer.

  1. Type your note.
  2. Tap Send.
  3. Use @mentions when you need a specific director or @board / @here (board members on the thread get notified).

This thread is not the legal record, not meeting minutes, and not a vote.

Step 4

You can bring in an expert without giving them the whole board portal.

Board Discussion header (board members only).

  1. Tap Invite expert (shown as Invite on small screens) to add someone to this private thread.
  2. After they join, the privacy line reads: Private — visible only to the board and invited experts.

Invited experts see only this discussion — not every board tool.
